Diversity, equity and inclusion are American values.

“Diversity, equity and inclusion are American values…The motto of the United States of America is e pluribus unum. Out of many, one. That’s diversity.

"Out of many, one" how does that equate to diversity?

The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution—one of the most influential important amendments in our country—provides equal protection under the law. That’s equity.

"equal protection of the laws" is not equity. Equity says that the outcome is pre determined. Equal protection of the laws means that the law applies to everyone, equally.

In this country, we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. A flag that we just presented to the new President and Vice President. And in that pledge, we promise, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. A-L-L. That’s inclusion.

I agree, 'ALL" means inclusion.

If DEI were implemented properly, I don't think most would have a problem with it, it's when DEI is used to exclude groups, that people push back.

On paper "diversity" means everyone, but in practice, it's an exclusionary function.

Leader Jeffries is correct.
Diversity is, indeed, an American value, insofar as we are all encouraged to attempt to make our communities and workplaces and our public life sufficiently diverse so as to reflect the variety of demographics that constitute "us".

Unfortunately for Liberals, they pushed Diversity too hard for too long at the expense of the majority demographics in the country and in 2016 and again in 2024 we see the predictable, natural backlash when Idiot Libs push the majority too far.

---------

Equity is not an American value; rather, Equality and Justice are the concepts closest in spirit to Equity.

Unfortunately for Liberals, they pushed Equity-over-Equality too hard for too long as the expense of the majority; resulting in the inevitable backlash after decades of Idiot Liberal overreach and self-flagellation. Disgusting. Unrealistic. Now dead.

--------

Inclusion is, indeed, an American value; insofar as everyone is welcome at the table of American Public Life.

Unfortunately for Liberals, they pushed Inclusion-over-Merit; the end result being vast numbers of marginally-qualified or under-qualified or token minority members in a wide range of government positions. DOGE is now finally re-levelling that playing field.

What liberals don't recognize, or choose to ignore, is that "Equity" is the opposite of "Equal Rights". They're not close in spirit. Each contradicts the other.

Removing obstacles that keep individuals from achievement should be the Democratic Party's policy. Equity does the opposite , by forcing equity creates an obstacle to qualified individuals who must take a back seat to those who may not be as qualified.

We've always had diversity. Equity and inclusion not so much.
I have to disagree. The three terms have specific meanings as used in DEI. We have not had diversity using that definition.

out of many means many people united, the direct opposite of dei. Dei would be multi ex paucis or many out of few.
"Out of many one" can mean the reconstitution of Israel from the gathering of the scattered descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel into one nation again. After God gave America to the tribe of Joseph/Manasseh the earliest immigrants were from the Christian countries of northern Europe where the lost tribes were scattered.

Your definition of diversity requires the inclusion of those diverse peoples. We see ethnic and cultural diversity everywhere but not necessarily inclusion.
You said we have always had diversity. Several patrons at the Woolworth's lunch counter would have disagreed with you. I saw lots of whites only signs as a kid. Diversity wasn't really that common even within my lifetime.
