Does Congress Really Care About High Costs of medical or anything else the public has to pay? In the past they professed this and then...

A GOP amendment opposed by Clinton would not only have increased Medicare Part B premiums, but it would also cancel a scheduled reduction. The Republicans held out for an increase in Medicare part B premiums in January 1996 to $53.50 a month. Clinton favored the then current law, which was to let the premium that seniors pay drop to $42.50.[3]

I do not believe the current Congress really cares about the high costs people pay

Congress doesn't care about anyone but Congress. Democrat, Republican, doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is getting reelected and they will all pander to whichever group or special interest will get them back to Capitol Hill.

In theory, We The People. In practice, a media who takes sides and only reports half truths, a disinterested electorate who thinks politics is a spectator sport and who can't be bothered to actually form their own opinions, and special interests with unlimited war chests.

Dante doesn't do conspjracies. But he does fault the electorate. Spectator sport is what most here make it...shouting, cheap point scoring, and crazy conspiracies about media.

Media are lazy...they love a good narrative. There is no media conspiracy

Do ignorant liberals really think that the cost of medical care will be cheaper because democrats rammed a 3,000 page law through the system? The cost of medical services will remain the same but the tab will be picked up differently. For those union workers who used to have paid medical insurance they will most likely have to pay out of their pocket after they become part time workers or the company opts to pay the fine rather than cover their employees. In other words everybody loses under Hussein/care except the gigantic bureaucracy created to run the thing and probably the big law firms which will get rich suing innocent businesses and medical providers.

If Congress really cared about rising healthcare costs, they (meaning the Democratic supermajorities in both houses) wouldn't have passed Obamacare. Simple.

Is that you in the rabbit hole? Is Alice anywhere near you?

You know whats interesting? The Congress exempted themselves from this `marvelous' health plan they themselves were able to `opt out' of. If this plan is so `marvelous' why don't they want in on all the wonderful benefits they say the common folk (who CAN'T opt out) are going to get?

LETTERS: ObamaCare opponents ill-informed | Las Vegas Review-Journal

During the health care debates, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa offered an amendment to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that would require Congress to purchase its insurance from the exchanges, set up by the law. Sen. Grassley’s move was done for no other reason than to derail the legislation, hoping to siphon off a few Democratic votes. Democrats, in a show of unity for the legislation, let the amendment pass. Congress heretofore had received essentially the same socialized health care benefits as military personnel and would end up paying more if members and staffers had to purchase health care through insurance companies.

As implementation of the law drew near, Congress requested that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid seek an exemption from the Republican amendment, so that members and staffers could receive subsidies toward the health care exchanges, and President Barack Obama approved the request. Once approved, it became a new GOP rallying cry: “Obama exempts Congress from this terrible legislation, should exempt everyone!”
