Why on Earth would public officials across the nation be clamoring for the legalization of marijuana? If you manage to dumb down a population with drugs you can do all sorts of bizarre things like knocking down borders, flooding the country with illegal immigrants and importing affordable opioids.

This is an interesting part of your thesis. Where it may or may not be true in comparison to the general population, they can only study the long term effects of marijuana use on Americans that are also criminals with a propensity to make poor choices to start with (in that they routinely break the law and do not respect authority on the matter). I am not saying it is either right or wrong, but that studies involving people who suffer a combination of problems associated with illegal drug use, don't represent a qualified control group as far as assigning properties to those who do not choose to participate in illegal activities to start with.

As usual, Ray, you see very clearly. Governments are becoming cognizant of something once long-held known by KGB, CIA and the like: Drugs of any kind become drugs of abuse because they all impart one form of EUPHORIA or another, and once a person is in a state of euphoria, they are content. Content with everything. A content person is a well-controlled person.

I would say that marijuana has no lingering effect if used in moderation; almost like every other substance under the sun. Abuse of any chemical will have negative effects.
