It's just another stupid religion like Christianity. What a stupid religion. Some worship the earth, others worship a non-existent god whom they think created the universe and the earth in seven days. At least those who celebrate earth day are trying to preserve something important.

See how we can all be so obnoxious toward each other? Isn't it fun to make fun of those we disagree with?

Like islam, or worshipping govt civil servants..........cult like.

Yawn.. happy hippie day...

I will be burning fossil fuels mowing my lawn and throwing the clippings in the trash... then I will probably drink a beer or 6 putting the cans in the very same trash... why?? Because things are what they are and a lot of the stuff the environmental wingers cling to is noting more than fear mongering hogwash

You're 80...everyone is a hippy to you

I hope to make it to 80

But anywho.. the majority of your typical 'earth day' supporters are either the ignorant youth who have it stuffed down their throats in school, or the straight up hippie types.. the very same ones that don't realize the energy required to recycle certain materials is more than to produce new ones... the same ones who thing modern wind power is more feasible than nuke.. the same ones who think they are doing good as they plug in their over-priced Volt using the same coal produced electricity after the 'carbon footprint' that was used to build their non-long-lasting disposable vehicle was utterly huge...

I'll stick to the common sense approach of recycling things that make sense, throwing away things that make sense, and basing my own actions on what is most economical for me and my situation...

Here in KC they're suggesting no one fill their gas tanks today. Thats just how dumb itIis. Consumption is consumprion no matter which day you fill up.

I dunno...it's funny that cons think throwing trash around will get environmentalist mad not realizing that that fish that swallowed the trash will end up on the plate you put in front of your family.

But...it's only hurting liberals lol

Of course it doesn't bother you, you know the issue is retarded bullshit. Now go change your oil and fill your gas tank

Everyone sins brother...even those that go to church sin. Meaning no one is perfect and we have to live in the world...Why do you expect differently?

More Earth Day Fun!

“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”

You're kidding right? Buying gas or oil or feeding my grass is a sin?

Get a grip

Earth Day may have been conceived in 1970, but it didn't truly go global until 1990. That year, more than 200 million people participated in environmental activities in more than 141 countries. This year, more than 1 billion people are expected to participate in 192 countries.

Wanna good laugh?

Here ya go...

“We have about five more years at the outside to do something.”
• Kenneth Watt, ecologist

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
• George Wald, Harvard Biologist

“We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.”
• Barry Commoner, Washington University biologist

“Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.” • New York Times editorial, the day after the first Earth Day

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation.”
• Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day

“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.”
• Peter Gunter, professor, North Texas State University

“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”
• Life Magazine, January 1970

“At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”
• Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

Stanford's Paul Ehrlich announces that the sky is falling.

“Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.”
• Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“We are prospecting for the very last of our resources and using up the nonrenewable things many times faster than we are finding new ones.”
• Martin Litton, Sierra Club director

“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’”
• Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

“Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute, believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.”
• Sen. Gaylord Nelson

“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”

No idiot, what I'm saying is that no one no matter what they believe or support can be 100% on those things 100% of the time like you seem to suggest by saying "go fill up your gas"

You are indeed an ignorant one

Your enviro-hippies and the brainwashed youth are indeed your main Earth Day supporters... and your Volt is indeed an overpriced (even with the government subsidizing a ton from taxes) energy laughingstock

Happy Earthday...even you earth scrooges

Da Comrade, workers of the World Unite for "conquer the Earth day.."

Sen. Gaylord Nelson, a Wisconsin Democrat purportedly chose April 22 to celebrate "Earth Day" because it coincided with no American holidays.

Funny though, that 4/22 is Vladimir Lenin's birthday.

And people just love stirring that pot.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

Sure it is...because you say so...:doubt:

Preserving morality is not important?

No I didn't..Is there a point there?

The point is that you're an idiot. People are living longer, healthier lives. All your bullshit about how we are "destroying the Earth" is a manifestation of your stupidity and the hatred you have for your fellow man.

What does living longer have to do with Earth Day?

This is where you get personal because not even you can explain the link

I think I'm gonna drive my '94 full-size Bronco around until it runs out of gas.. which will take about 2 hours.
