Naturally the media is calling him a gentle giant like they did with michael brown. The cops most likely knew about his past and knew they were dealing with a dangerous man.

Eric Garner
(September 15, 1970 – July 17, 2014) had been employed as a horticulturist at the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.[18] Garner was a 350-pound (160 kg), 43-year-old, 6'3" (1.91 m) tall, African American man.[5][6] He has been described by his friends as a "neighborhood peacemaker" and as a generous, congenial person.[12] He had six children.[8] Garner had been previously arrested and was out on bail for selling untaxed cigarettes, driving without a license, marijuana possession, and false personation. Garner had a criminal record that includes more than 30 arrests dating back to 1980 on charges such as assault, resisting arrest, grand larceny. An official said the charges include multiple incidents in which he was arrested for selling unlicensed cigarettes.[19][20][21]

That job he had with Dept of Parks was no doubt an affirmative action job. This guy was totally worthless.

Prolly on welfare too.

Eric Garner Widow And Mother Break Silence

Exactly what Eric Garner did for a living remains unclear. The Garner attorney told CNNthat the man who died as a result of the July police chokehold incident was part of the “underground economy” and did not elaborate further.

The term underground economy means working off the books for cash and not paying taxes on the income. In NYC, it is reportedly not uncommon to see folks selling loose cigarettes, water, fake designer purses, and umbrellas on the sidewalk – until police officers happen along and shut the operations down. Such undeclared income allows the individual to remain eligible for welfare in many cases. Garner was previously employed as a parks department horticulturalists, according to New York Gritty.

Haven't heard or read anyone calling him a gentle giant.

"likely knew" about his past ... haven't heard or read that either.

What I have read and have seen is the cop(s) choke-holding him, squishing him on the ground, even his head, even after he was rendered unconscious, and offering zero medical assistance to him while he lay on the sidewalk unconscious, and the medical examiner declaring Garner's cause of death as follows:

"On Aug. 1, a New York City medical examiner determined that the cause of death in the Garner case was “homicide,” specifically the neck compressions from the Pantaleo’s chokehold and “the compression of [Garner’s] chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police, according to spokeswoman, Julie Bolcer.

But “homicide” in this context doesn’t mean what you think. It’s one of five categories medical examiners use to label causes of death and it indicates that “someone’s intentional actions led to the death of another person,” says Gregory G. Davis, president of the National Association of Medical Examiners. The other four labels are suicide, accident, natural, and undetermined, Davis says."

Why a Medical Examiner Called Eric Garner s Death a Homicide

The cop(s) were wrong on this, they directly caused Garner's death.

Nevertheless if you watched the video, unlike Michael Brown, the cops acted wrong and the choking cop should have been prosecuted. It's not a black and white thing it's cops using poor judgement thing. Garner could have been white and the outcome would have been the same!

BS. If garner was white we'd have never heard of this incident. Unarmed white men get killed by cops all the time but the media always blacks out the story.

Typical of this racist, waste of skin OP - he ignores that the arrests were for selling loose cigs, says he was employed but then says he was on welfare. SEVEN cops for the heinous crime of selling loose cigarettes?

He was murdered on the street, died on the street. This video was kept from the GJ. WHY?

And then he pulls out his Professional Victim Card.

Who gives a shit how many times he'd been arrested? Wrong is wrong.

You're every bit as stupid as the idiots who won't concede that Brown was a good shoot.

That cop should have at minimum been charged with using excessive force.

Not half as bad as what that black cop did to WHITE dillon taylor. But the press won't talk about that.

So tell us what happened. Did pantaleo lose the cases.? Your refusal to mention the outcome tells me he didn't. Anyone can sue anyone.

And anyone can kill a black man and get away with it.

This was just another white wash.
Another lie.

The family is suing for $75 million. All they care about is getting money out of this incident.

Why do you lie so much?

Took about a minute to disprove this latest bald faced lie of yours.
