Europe must reduce its dependency on the United States and avoid getting dragged into a confrontation between China and the U.S. over Taiwan, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview on his plane back from a three-day state visit to China.

Speaking with POLITICO and two French journalists after spending around six hours with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his trip, Macron emphasized his pet theory of “strategic autonomy” for Europe, presumably led by France, to become a “third superpower.”

He said “the great risk” Europe faces is that it “gets caught up in crises that are not ours, which prevents it from building its strategic autonomy,” while flying from Beijing to Guangzhou, in southern China, aboard COTAM Unité, France’s Air Force One.

In case nobody at Politico noticed, the USA is led by a guy that shits his pants and tries to shake hands with thin air.

We project weakness and confusion, because that’s what we run out there on the world stage so I’m not going to blame other countries for the actions they take to set themselves up for survival.

Our government has failed us, and by extension, the world.

In case no one has noticed the OP is anti-American as is Macron and the French have a long history of not doing what the US wants, shall we remind you of "Freedom Fries" a few years ago during Boosh and the Frenchies nonalignment with the US on Iraq and Afghanistan.

What he forwards is indeed correct - problem with this guy is just that if he meets with Biden tomorrow he will start to convey the exact opposite. And let's not forget that around 200 French representatives of industrial and commercial enterprises are following him on this trip - and they all desperately want business deals signed off with China.

The French have always considered themselves the power broker in the EU.....If the squareheads let them.

Come on, no such thing as anti-American in the States - only:
1. Make America Strong Again
2. make America even stronger again

At first I was like "Oh Boy, Freedom Fries will make a comeback" then I considered the clown show DC is putting on the world stage and was embarrassed for America instead.

Let's remember that the next time France is crapping its pants again. No one has to guess where our EU "allies" would be if we suddenly needed their help as they've relied on us for over a century!

That’s fine. Then they can also figure out how to defend themselves. We should have pulled out of NATO and the UN decades ago.

Recall the massive attacks on Trump for merely insisting fellow NATO countries pay their fair share, and being sincere and tough about it.

The howls show what a stupid game NATO is these many decades later, long after a weakened Europe became a powerful EU and long after the USSR vanished.

That's one Frenchman who never got over Napolean's defeat.

Talking about symbols, look at their photo with Re:Union symbol

In both cases - Iraq and Afghanistan - the French had been wise.

How could anyone claim that NATO is really a part of this war? They are just providing training, intelligence, $125 billion in weapons and cash, and have placed 10 rounds of economic sanctions to try to destroy Russia's economy.
They are more like innocent bystanders.
The US Gov't committed more than $100 billion in American taxpayer money to their donors and Ukraine the most corrupt country in Europe The results have been weapons manufacturers getting richer, politicians getting kickbacks, 20% of Ukraine being taken and lots of dead soldiers.
The only war the West is winning is the propaganda war, but the problem is that the only place they're even winning that is in the West.

The truth, of course, is that NATO has done none of these things, but many members of NATO have helped Ukraine fight off the Russian invaders in just the ways you say. It would be fair to say that most members of NATO approve of these efforts, but NATO has not taken part in them.

Perhaps imagining Russia is being humiliated by NATO instead of by Ukraine helps some Russians maintain their superpower delusions, but the truth is Russia is just a central Asian petro-state with exceptionally poor leadership and a third rate military on its very best days.
