How do you suppress a vote by requiring a photo ID? That has never been satisfactorily explained. The Supreme Court did not decide the election between gore and bush, as has been repeatedly reported, numerous news groups did their own recounts and found that bush legitimately won by around 250 votes. That is KNOWN! Why do you insist on perpetuating that particular lie?

Many college students have a photo ID, but some states choose to deny them the right to vote. In CA the DMV provides both a Driver's License and an ID card; I suspect the Congress would find both acceptable since the DMV requires the following:

The problem with College ID’s is that they are not statements of Residency. I was in the Army. I left California and went to Georgia, and after Parachute training went to North Carolina. I kept my California Drivers License for years as my “home of record” was in California. I was legally allowed to vote Absentee in California. Later, when I established Residency in Georgia, I surrendered my California License and got a Georgia License. I was now a Resident of Georgia. I had severed ties to California. I was now not allowed to vote in California, but I was allowed to vote in Georgia.

Now, imagine instead of the Army I was going to college. I am a Resident of California attending school at UGA. I can vote in California via Absentee Ballot. But my College ID is not valid in Georgia to vote, because it is not proof of residency. The ID needs to be issued by the State. Because the State checks with the other states to make sure you don’t have an ID in California while issuing it. The college does not.

In this scenario I went into a Doctoral Program in North Carolina, but I am not a Resident of North Carolina. Once I am, then I can vote. Legally.

It is part of insuring that one person, has just one vote. Otherwise, I could use my California Residency to vote Absentee in the election, and then use my College ID to vote in person in North Carolina. Wouldn’t that be cheating?
