Feds tell Web firms to turn over user account passwords


This article is so vague as to be ridiculous.

Not one single name is named as a source of these rumors. "One Internet industry source". "A second person". "A Microsoft spokesperson". "An attorney who represents Internet companies".

This is a joke.


And the article did not state under what conditions "the government" was seeking passwords. It did not even name what agency of "the US government" was doing this.

The article said "orders" were given. Really? As in warrants? Those kind of "orders"? Who were the targets of these "orders"? Just random people, or criminal suspects? The article seems to be trying to get the reader to conclude the government is just picking random Americans.


Shoddy, shoddy journalism.
