FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Elected leaders in the St. Louis suburb where an unarmed black 18-year-old was fatally shot by a white police officer hoped to use their first public meeting since Michael Brown's death as a chance to promote community healing.

Instead, they were greeted Tuesday night with anger, outrage and warnings of voter retribution at the ballot box. Proposals to overhaul the municipal courts and create a citizen police review board were greeted warily, if not with outright skepticism.

"You've lost your authority to govern this community," said St. Louis activist John Chasnoff. "You're going to have to step aside peacefully if this community is going to heal."

local community control of the local community ~ far right direct rule

Facing reality, the elected officials should step aside. If they live in Ferguson they should move. Every white person in that city should get out now while their property is still saleable. The Citizen's Committee to oversee the judicial system will have the right to veto the judicial rulings bringing a full kangaroo court to Ferguson.

Ferguson has a chance to create another all black utopia. The elected officials should not impede those efforts. Let Ferguson heal. Even if they heal crippled.

Except it not, stepping aside isn't democratically elected?!! They don't like the people they elected ,elect someone else when it election time,

The citizens have every right to tell them to resign and move on.

The officials have every right to say make us.

That's what American democracy is about.

Mob rule...what could possibly go wrong?

Voting is mob rule?

A city public meeting with people is mob rule?

Wow you need to learn the meaning of words in the english language.

You also need to not vote if you believe voting is mob rule.

Gotta keep the hate going

so, any time a cop has to defend himself, he will have to prove his innocence to a bunch of hate filled racist?

You are the one backing off, obviously. I posted the opening of the article. I defend their right to let the city bosses know what they think. This a town meeting, much like one in 2009 during the summer of TPM righteous anger, and the citizens of Ferguson are telling their officials off.

Why are you being hypocritical. Simple: because you hate that they are acting like the Goofs of 2009 acted out.

You would not be able to comprehend that one either.

You are what you are, dented cognitively.

We the people declare Obama a complete and utter failure, he should move on.

We the people declare Obama a complete and utter failure, he should move on.

We the People in two elections disagreed with you.

You still have the right to say you disagree with the outcomes.

We the people, who have a brain, have realized the gross mistake made, Obama needs to move on.

Old jakethefake is more then happy spreading civil unrest against the ELECTED representative of Ferguson. Even to the point where the minority of voters storm the meeting and jakethefake thinks that is really a swell way to run a city. What people like jakethefake do is spread hate and division. WTF did the city council have to do with the shooting? Let's say the cop was a complete whacko and shot the innocent boy as he was helping an old white lady cross the street. So what does that have to do with the stores in the community? What does that have to do with the ELECTED council?

As I said, a bowling ball makes more sense.
