Fiat/Chrysler announces 1 billion investment in US manufacturing,2000 new jobs

Fields said the decision would have gone ahead whether or not Donald Trump was elected president,

I've long considered myself a devout Ford guy. From my first car, a 1969 Falcon given to me as a hand-me-down from my parents in 1988, I have always owned at least one Ford vehicle at any given time. Alas, the time came to replace my 1997 Contour, and circumstances pushed me, not into another Ford, but into a slightly-used 2016 Dodge Dart, which my wife and I bought just over a week ago. When we get rid of the Contour, it will be the first time in nearly thirty years that I won't own a Ford.

I consider Ford to be the only remaining great American car manufacturer that still stands for American values. However, having made the not-quite-voluntary jump from Ford to FCA, I am at least pleased to see such an announcement from them regarding their investment in manufacturing in this country, to the benefit of this country's economy. It'll be interesting to see if, by the time I am in a position of buying my next vehicle, if FCA will have won me over by then, or whether I'll feel compelled to try to return to Ford.

Thank goodness for globalism. An Italian company bought a dying American company, invested in it, and made it profitable over the last 7 years. Since they've reported such big profits lately, they're able to grow their business and hire new people.

NAHA NEVERMIND JUST TRUMP DID IT. HAHA MAGA!!!

I rented a 2016 Dodge Dart a couple months ago, and man that car had a lot of power for the little engine in it. I liked it quit a bit.

Trump is using the carrot and the whip. He's calling these CEOs personally and laying out two different paths they can take. Ignore their duty as an American company and pay through the ass for it, or stay here or move back here, and enjoy a much more favorable tax and regulations scenario. It's really an almost irresistible sales pitch....and the car guys know all about sales pitches.

Read the articles... this was part of a plan put into place a year ago before Trump was even the Republican candidate...

Do you know which engine? Mine's got the 2.0. It doesn't seem to have quite as much get-up-and-go as my Contour did, which is to be expected given that it's a slightly heavier car (about 3,300 pounds for the Dart compared to about 3,000 for the Contour) and slightly less-powerful (about 160 HP for the Dart, about 170 HP for the Contour).

The other engines offered in the Dart are a 2.4-liter engine, and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine.

It has to be better than when Chrysler was making it...

Hmm I'm not sure, does yours say it is a Dart II? It looked like the same paint scheme your's is. Black with red trim.

she would probably be being derided by the right for being too socialist with the private sector.
She wouldn't be making this happen PERIOD.
like a democrat could really get away with threatening to tax individual corporations.
Why not Sanders was saying that and he did quite well. Clinton is just a neo con who hates America and is looking to line her pockets, just like everyone that supports this free trade shit is doing.

A year ago....like around the time Trump started talking about his plan to tax companies that refused to build in America? hmmmm
