Stupid moronic action films make more money than thoughtful, creative, artistic films. All it mans when Fox has more viewers than other news programs have is that there are a lot of dumbass people watching it for 'entertainment' than there are intelligent, thoughtful people watching other news programs. Fox appeals to the lowest element, intellectually, in our nation.

Exactly -- that's what $ells. McBurgers sell more than genuine food. McMovies sell more than genuine art. McMusic also sells more than genuine art. Fake wrestling sells more than documentaries. Etc etc etc.

This just in: we live in a commodity-fetish culture, and anything that can be made into one and mass produced gets the treatment in the quest of the Almighty Dollar (praised be Its Holey Name). And TV figured that out the moment it was invented.

Aesthetic integrity means special, and special means discerning, and discerning means rare. If you want common, as in selling as many McWidgets as possible, that quality has to be stripped out, which is why McBurgers taste like cardboard.

So when these wags come all over this board with Fox Noise ratings, as they incessantly do, they are indeed making a point, but not the one they think they're making.
