Not only listening to the entire speech but the behavior of the audience. They followed the rules of the event and were polite. Would you see that on a college campus today? I like to see comments on the speech and how the whole thing was conducted.

People were a lot more polite, even when they disagreed vehemently with a speaker they listened to what they had to say.

3 top leaders of the national socialist movement attended a meeting of African American muslims in Washington DC without any violence or anyone being shouted down. The nazi leaders were in full uniform as well, it wasn't like they were hiding who they were.

I shook his hand at a Fourth of July speech and fireworks display. I was 7. By today's standards he was surely a racist but that doesn't mean everything he believed was wrong. After the assassination attempt he made his peace with the African American community and they helped re-elect him.

This is his speech on segregation and the federal government imposing its will on the southern states. We don't have really good public speakers in politics anymore.

David letterman was in charge of the pencil sharpener for the pencils that the Student Senators had... Mr. Letterman was given a participation trophy for his ability to put a point on things...

Lyndon Bains Johnson's speech on the voting rights bill. See how cordial the congress was to the president. Its something we all need to encourage again from the elected public servants.

When I was working in Norfolk VA I saw a textbook with a chapter on Wallace. He was the single most successful politician in our history. He never lost an election that he finished.

I met him twice. Both times as part of a school group. Once in the 1st grade and once in the 5th.

The Alabama Liberal lost plenty of elections. He ran for President 3 or 4 times, and lost every time.

His precedents, like having his old lady run as a proxy candidate when he was constitutionally prohibited from seeking another term as Alabama governor, was followed by other Southern Liberal honky politicians like Slick Willy Clinton in Arkansas. Clinton of course put his old bag up for POTUS to circumvent the 22nd amendment.

No wonder why the South got so sick of leftist bullshit

lg325 Who was the man who yelled "You lie" to President Obama during his State of the Union speech?
I hear he received lots of money from like minded supporters after that outburst.

That was Joe Wilson, a tremendous congressman from South Carolina.

BTW, B. Hussein O WAS lying, so it was actually an appropriate response.

That's why the lib objection to Wilson's remarks were that "it violated protocol" or something. Libs couldn't contest the fact that the Congressman was telling the truth.

George Wallace had lots of supporters when he ran for President in 1968. I've always wondered who was behind his assassination attempt.
It wasn't the White Supremacist. (There were White Supremacist in the Republican and Democrat party).
This is a political mystery.

He WON the Michigan & Florida DEM POTUS Primaries in 72 (Amog other States ) and he was on cover of Newsweek as "Our Next President" 1972 was a FAR MORE POTENTIALLY SUCCESSFUL campaign than 68 (In fact he was a Shoe in for POTUS )

Eight out of every ten Kluxers were Democrats for the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan's existence 1870-1986
