It’s a well-established reality of contemporary American politics: The Republican Party is struggling to find ways to better connect with female voters. The “War on Women” and all that.

Well, here’s some unsolicited advice to the GOP on how it could perhaps have more success convincing women that they, too, care about their freedom and autonomy — tell New Mexico Rep. Steve Pearce to go far, far away.

Not just Pearce, of course, but rather all men, in the Republican’s opinion, should be the clear and undisputed masters of their families and homes. And best of all, it’s all based on the Bible. The Good Wife’s Guide

1. Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready, for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal (especially his favorite dish) is part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you’ll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.

3. Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

4. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives.

5. Gather up schoolbooks, toys, paper etc. and then run a dust cloth over the tables.

6. Over the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering for his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

7. Prepare the children. Take a few minutes to wash the children’s hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair and, if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part. Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.

8. Be happy to see him.

9. Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

10. Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first – remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

11. Make the evening his. Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to dinner, or other places of entertainment without you. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure and his very real need to be at home and relax.

12. Your goal: Try to make sure your home is a place of peace, order and tranquility where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit.

13. Don’t greet him with complaints and problems.

14. Don’t complain if he’s late home for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through that day.

15. Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or have him lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.

16. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.

17. Don’t ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

18. A good wife always knows her place

Is his wife still in prison for justifiable homicide?

Note: the Bible says for wives and husbands to submit one to another. people are supposed to be equal in Christ, though we play different roles. where the role of the husband is to make sure he is always right, while the role of the wife is to explain how he is wrong in private but make him feel it is his idea so he can still be right. that is why women have to develop better intuitive communication skills to be more diplomatic, to play the peacemaking role between men who always have to be right, in control and in charge, to look good and not weak. or other men will take over the territory so they can look strong.

but Hey I'm all for people to "man up" take responsibility and quit blaming others for the problems. I do blame patriarchal politics for this notion of leading by telling others what to do and making everyone else do the groundwork while taking credit as the leader on top.

in my district, the women doing all the work to rescue national history from destruction are scrambling to volunteer, and invest our own resources while working 2 or even 3 jobs.

The "leaders" the men in the church pray and wait on God. Waiting on Government has led to nothing but public money given away to developers to destroy the history and seize land.

Both parties spend millions of dollars on "patriarchal politics" bullying and competing for office while all the work is done by women working 2-3 jobs each to pay the costs while volunteering. While government officials do nothing to help but keep blocking and excluding the community, putting more and more burden on the women volunteers while the men assume credit or place blame elsewhere. Pathetic. Both parties are guilty. I blame the politics, that we keep patronizing this system of putting funds into campaigns not solutions.

Sad we are losing national history because of it, and people can blame the Democrat Party but the Republicans wouldn't help either, and one of our community leaders is constantly appealing for help to stop abuse of taxes to destroy the history, and to repair the damages.
but neither side wants to touch this, because they want solutions to be spelled out first before they are associated with anything so they get credit and don't take risks of failure.

So the work in the meantime is landing on women in the community juggling resources to make things work in the meantime while the men just "blame others for the problems."

I have never felt so hopeless and "enslaved" in my life; working two jobs already and then asked to take on a third job to pay for corrections myself since the govt won't help us.
Why should I have to be pushed to "involuntary servitude" while millions of taxes and campaign funds are spent on destruction and competition and not invested in corrections to govt abuses and corruption? How long can the victims of abuse be expected to pay the cost of damages ourselves, while politicians blame each other candidates to try to get elected?

Very sick. I think my body is falling apart about as badly as this historic district that is like the whipping boy of partisan politics, the child starving to death from neglect while the rich parents go out and party and live a lavish lifestyle using millions for themselves.

I blame the system of competing for political points.
People fighting to blame the other party candidates at the expense of working together to solve problems more cost effectively. we are losing our national sites and businesses by wasting resources we could invest as microloans to build the economy and govt on a sustainable basis. instead of fighting over handouts to the rich or the poor, while the working class gets stuck paying the bill and doing all the work the govt fails to do.
