Governor Moonbeam was joking, but he may be more correct than he knows.

California WILL need a wall: to keep people in. How many normal people are going to want to stay, when the illegal aliens, welfare recipients, multiple-offense rapists and thugs start fighting for the recognition and acceptance (and free money) Democrats have long granted them, and a President Trump now says they can't have?

Prisons need walls, Communist East Germany needed one, all for the same reason. And now Jerry Brown (D-CA) is joining their ranks.

Jerry Brown: If Trump wins, California might need a wall of its own

Gov. Jerry Brown, mocking Donald Trump for his plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, suggested Monday that if the Republican frontrunner wins election, California might have to take protective measures of its own.

“If Trump were ever elected, we’d have to build a wall around California to defend ourselves from the rest of this country,” Brown told labor organizers at a dinner in Sacramento. “By the way that is a joke."

California could exist very nicely as an independent nation.

So could Texas but it better to keep the union...

As for the wall joke, well it is a joke, and I have written that if Trump win I would move to Mexico to help Mexico build the wall so that America can keep all the Trump supporters here after they discover he is a charlatan that sold them piss water instead of a Hope and Change miracle cure...

( I know Hope and Change is or was President Obama platform before some clueless wonder corrects me )

It needs water. If California were independent and the US decided not to allow water from the Colorado River to be sent Cali, the people in California are going to get mighty thirsty.

They won't build desalination plants because it might disturb some fish, so what will Cali do?

They need a wall to keep the insane like him away from the rest of society. good grief no wonder the state is going to hell

Jerry Brown's great. Has all the character traits Rump lacks. First and foremost honesty, and second humility.

Only because it was part of the USA all along.
If you were your own nation from the onset we USA business would never have located there or developed many resources. There would be no silicon valley that is certain. Your farming would be your go to resource, but then, you might have to keep the fields irrigated now instead of putting tens of thousands of farmers and related folks out of business to save the habitat of that oh-so-precious delta smelt minnow.

California has needed a wall to keep the liberal fruits, flakes, and nuts (Like a box of Grape Nuts) confined for a long while...that need has only grown as time passes.

Sure, as long as the hard workers stayed to have the fruits of their labors turned over to the welfare leeches, chronically entitled, illegal aliens, and other leftists.

That's why they would need a wall - to keep people in who would eventually want to leave.

Gov. Moonbeam was more correct than he knows.

It does raise an interesting question about just how self-sufficient California is. Support the US decides to let them go and then places a massive tariff on goods that go through the port of Long Beach, but not through a native port like Seattle. Or they decide to not use California agriculture and let Florida and Texas pick up the slack. Would California be able to survive if they can't export to the US?
