Of course. The problem for something like that is not possibility in singular event but the possibility on scale.



Fissile fuels offer a lot of power in a small package. If you want to use solar power, the costs would be astronomical in manpower and raw materials. Impossible to accomplish on scale. The panels on scale do not matter, there is not enough power to fly large quantities of people/goods stored within a sun ray no matter how efficient you made the cells.
