It's all over but the mopping up.

Hagel to Withdraw? | The Weekly Standard

"The prospect of a Hagel regime at DOD is a real problem now because the next SecDef will need to do two things: Work with Congress to reduce the defense budget thoughtfully, and work with the military to re-shape the military to make it relevant to future conflict. At the moment, Hagel appears to lack the political capital to do the former, as well as the intellectual appetite to do the latter."

What a shame. Hagel is so incompetent, he would be perfect for the job.

He was Obama's perfect SecDef. Not sure who can replace him...maybe some Soviet War Planner? Or his Aunt Zeiti?

If Hagel has an IQ of more than 20 points he will run from Owe Bama just as fast as he can run but I doubt if he's that smart.

Next The Weekly Standard will campaign for Donald Rumsfeld to become the next head of the Defense Department (maybe as a place holder until Dick Cheney's Daughter gets the job, if the Republican Brand ever gets back the White House). I'm not too surprised that Katzndogz still believes the neoconservatrives have recovered from the Iraq Fiasco and the American People will allow them to ever hold the seat of power again. Most remember the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld axis as a nightmare.

I wanted Hagel to get the job! If he doesn't someone equally incompetent will get the job. After all, once Susan Rice was out at Secretary of State, obama got John Kerry.

Kerry set the Obama standard, so who is that compliment for SecDef as Kerry is to State, too bad Fidel and Chavez are so ill

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the right wing is suffering premature ejaculation over a possible win on Obama with Hagel as a pawn?

 how petty and small a once grand old party has become.

I'd be surprised if he does withdraw with just this as a prime motivator. Had he donated to "Friends of Hezbolla" then he may have had an issue, but there's more than enough support for Hamas within the Democratic Party and President Obama to get him through.

^ Repetition.

OP is a repeated one. No need to waste time thinking of a response.

Hagel's confirmation hearing was as embarrassing as anything I have EVER seen re a nominee for a high level position like that. But Fearless Leader has spoken and his adoring throng will support Hagel and that is all that is important anymore. Nevermind if somebody isn't quite intellectually or otherwise qualified for the job.

At least John Kerry, who we know to be a thoroughly dishonest and opportunistic person, is more qualified to be Secretary of State than Hillary Clinton was. So he'll probably do as well. The best we can say for Hillary is that she has nothing she can point to as a significant accomplishment, but she didn't do any significant harm during her tenure.

I hope we will be able to say the same of Hagel.

Hagel's testimony was a disaster. He should withdraw.

But he won't. And he will be confirmed. The GOP members were the only ones to ask pertinent questions and his embarassing answers were mostly not covered by the MSM. So, the Obama worshippers will point to the mean GOP who dared to actually conduct a hearing as the hateful ones, and there will be enough Republicans who won't buck the system that he should be confirmed quite easily. Plus a fairly good sized group of Republicans in both the House and Senate, while they don't think Hagel was a good choice, also respect that the President should have who he wants if the person is not disqualified by malfeasance.

I agree. It's President Obama's second term to make or break.

And in other News: Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional and Romney/Ryan beat Obama/Biden in a landslide
