Hard Times for 'Hamilton'?

'Hamilton' Sets Box Office Record After Mike Pence Controversy

"Add another accolade to Hamilton's gigantic trophy case.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit musical has set a Broadway record for the most money earned in a single week, according to The New York Times. The production raked in $3.3 million for eight shows and is the first show to surpass $3 million in revenues for an eight-show week. (Wicked earned $3.2 million for a nine-performance week in 2013, The Times reports.)

The success comes the week after President-elect Donald Trump criticized the cast for reading a statement to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who attended a show on Nov. 18 and was booed by some audience members. "We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir," said actor Brandon Victor Dixon while addressing Pence during the curtain call. "But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us, all of us."

Trump said the cast "harassed" Pence and demanded an apology."

...there's your apology, big mouth.

Actually look what they said, why is there a need to apologise?

Exactly. Apparently now a call for upholding our inalienable rights is heresy.
Since no one in Congress has made even a mention of passing a law restricting their rights, it is apparent that their freedom of speech was never in jeopardy. Wow, what awesome freedom fighters who fight a nonexistent foe. Tilt at those windmills!

You either lie, or you're ignorant. One example:

Federal Marriage Amendment - Wikipedia
Or perhaps you're not aware of the topic on which we opine. What member of Congress has even mentioned writing a law (much less written one) that would restrict the cast members of "Hamilton" from expressing whatever stupid opinion(s) they may have?

Oh, so you don't think there are any gays in a Broadway production who might be concerned with their rights AS gays?

lol, you're an idiot.

White House, House, Senate, Supreme Court, state houses.

The Democrats talked about skin color, bathrooms and birthday cakes, the GOP talked about jobs, borders and security.

Anyway, congratulations on the success, Hamilton.

Good of you to finally come out of the political closet.
Sure, I've said a zillion times I voted for Hillary.

But you really showed Trump with this thread, you betcha.
.

This thread is an update for all your Trumptard pals who predicted doom for 'Hamilton' as a result of the incident.
Kinda hard to be "doom" when it's sold out for like two years...

Of course, but the predictions were made here. By the usual sort of USMB suspects.

I was very clear in asking if any members of Congress have written, introduced, or even talked about a law restricting these peoples' right to free speech and you wonder off into gay marriage land? Obviously, you know very well that no member of Congress has done anything to limit free speech (other than campaign finance reform which benefits the incumbents) but don't want to admit such.

You will find idiocy in the mirror.

Whose American Values ?

Theirs ?

ROTF

They are right. Trump was wrong. Case closed.

Because you said so ?

Guess again.

I am no fan of Trump, but this was stupid.

Had Trump been president for six months and shown his colors...O.K.

He's not even in yet.

If Obama had come, they would have kissed his ass...and I would have been winging tomatoes.

And in other news, Trump will still be your President come late January 2017.

A bunch of Broadway fags pretending to be Colonialists....

A rant from a vulgar stage actor directed at the Vice President elect is translated to an LOL from the party of losers. No surprises here.

Was it not sold out before the election?

'Hamilton' has been on an upward trend for 9 months with a music album release, nationally televised award show appearances and now huge election exposure due to the card reading incident.

And Pence gave it a positive review. It has the official Pence seal of approval

No actually it was another stupid liberals attempt to rationalize his ignorance of reality, and make it seem as if his or any member of the cast of the historically inaccurate fantasy's opinion was worthy of even a dogs second thought. It didn't work, and Gave trump another thing to use as a provocation and laughing point to make a joke out of the stupid liberal press again.

If your point is that there are a bunch of stupid Moon Bat shitheads in New York then I will agree with you.

New York is full of Fucking Assholes, Hah, I was in Ft Dix NJ, and I never got so tired of hearing anything as I did "OH YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE"!! in a high pitched nasal screech,, It's a few states against the rest country I think we can waste em. I wish California would go ahead and leave the union, Trump and the US government could let them go, and win the whole country. All of those liberals gone, and a wall around Cal , all the ports closed off all the water and power from the other states cut off, The Colorado river filling back up. All of their shit backing up in their back yards. Of course we would have to keep all of the military installations We could resettle the conservatives in the other liberal states, and turn the vote easily to a 49 state CONSERVATIVE Majority for the next 50 years and enough to rewrite the constitution just enough to make sure that any attempt to subvert the constitution by any method would be subject to MILITARY TRIBUNAL as A treasonist, and if found guilty executed immediately. Then a stop to any court but the Supreme court being able to stop the implementation of a federal law, or determine the constitutionality of a State law.
