Truly, can the liberal left wing, as represented by Dirty Harry, sink any lower into the cesspool?

Is Dirty Harry blaming Obama for these deaths after all we all know that Obama is the architect of the sequester.

All that aside, they are playing us for fools. 82 billion is hardly a drop in the bucket but Dirty Harry using the deaths of anyone for his political hay is down right despicable.

He overstepped his boundaries here.

Sure...the left will say he never blamed sequester.....but only a moron wouldnt see it that he inserted the tragedy into his sequester "rant" in an effort to tie them together....but also in a way where he can say "he was tying nothing together"

It is the new way to speak in politics. Obama mastered it...others are now following.

I did look through the first few pages, must of missed this. Can a Senator be impeached?

And the liberals blame the conservatives for using deaths for political points! Wow!
If this isn't using our military for political points....I don't know what it is.
I guess Obama shouldn't have come up with this sequester thingy (and blame the republicans)....moron.

I must say, this is so bad, so over the top, so disgraceful that even the most rabid of liberal won't even attempt to defend Dirty Harry. Kudos to the liberals.

I would have to question why he bought up the deaths in a rant about Obama's sequester. Very odd thing to do unless he was hoping the idiots would make assumptions. There is always a reason. Or he is just that damn stupid.

They were the brave, the proud, they were Marines...

Marines killed in Nevada mortar explosion identified
March 21, 2013 — Five lance corporals, a corporal and a private first class, all of 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, were killed Monday in a mortar explosion during training in Nevada earlier this week, Marine officials said Thursday.
Pfc. Joshua M. Martino, 19, of Clearfield, Pa.; Lance Cpl. David P. Fenn II, 20, of Polk City, Fla.; Lance Cpl. Roger W. Muchnick Jr, 23, of Fairfield, Conn.; Lance Cpl. Joshua C. Taylor, 21, of Marietta, Ohio; Lance Cpl. Mason J. Vanderwork, 21, of Hickory, N.C.; Lance Cpl. William T. Wild IV, 21, of Anne Arundel, Md.; and Cpl. Aaron J. Ripperda, 26, of Madison Ill., were killed after a 60 mm mortar exploded Monday during a live-fire training exercise at Hawthorne Army Depot, Nev.

This undated photo provided by the U.S. Marines shows Lance Cpl. David P. Fenn II of Polk City, Fla. Penn, 20, was killed with six other Marines in an explosion during a Nevada training exercise on Monday, March 18, 2013.

Seven other Marines and one sailor were injured in the blast. “The Marines’ and sailors’ response to the incident to provide first aid for our injured was nothing short of heroic,” Lt. Col. Andrew J. McNulty, commander of 1/9, said in a written statement. “There were numerous acts of selflessness as our injured cared for each other and directed corpsmen to care for more severely injured before being treated themselves. The Marines and sailors on scene did everything possible to care for an save those affected by the mortar system malfunction.”

McNulty said the unit will now focus on caring for the injured and supporting the family and friends of the fallen. Martin was a mortarman who joined the Marine Corps in July 2012. Fenn, Muchnick, Taylor and Vanderwork, all mortarmen, joined the Marine Corps in June 2010 and had deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. Wild joined the Marine Corps in Oct. 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. Ripperda joined the Marine Corps in September 2008 and most recently deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.

“We send our prayers and condolences to the families of the Marines and sailors who have been killed and injured in this tragic accident,” 2nd Marine Division Commander Brig. Gen. Jim Lukeman said in a written statement. “our first priority is to provide them with the support they need during this very difficult time, and we’re doing that right now.”

The Marines had finished a cold-weather training exercise at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Calif., and were doing live-fire mortar training when one of the mortar systems failed, McNulty said. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the failure, he said. In the meantime, the Pentagon has suspended all use of the mortar system until further notice.

Profiles of 7 Marines killed in Nev. Army depot explosion
March 21, 2013 - A mortar shell explosion Monday at an Army depot in Hawthorne, Nev., killed seven Marines and injured eight other servicemen. Here are profiles of the victims:
AARON RIPPERDA, 26

Ripperda was looking forward to going back to college and wanted to "get on with his life," his father, Kent Ripperda, told The Associated Press. Joining the Marines never had been Aaron Ripperda's first choice after his 2005 graduation from Highland High School, his father said. Ripperda did some college work in Chicago before graduating from a St. Louis culinary school, only to find the job market in that field flat. Aaron Ripperda saw joining the military as a way to see the world, and felt he had a calling to join the Marines, his father said.

JOSH TAYLOR, 21

Marine Lance Cpl. Taylor, who worked with mortars and served tours in Afghanistan and Kuwait, had dreamed being in the Corps since watching the History Channel as a boy. He joined right after graduating from a high school in Marietta, Ohio, in 2010. Taylor's grandfather, Larry Stephens, said Taylor was engaged to be married, with a wedding planned for May. His fiancee's father called him an exceptional person. "You don't meet many young men like him today," Keith Malone told The Marietta Times. "He was respectful to everyone, very humble, just happy, happy all the time." Taylor is also survived by three sisters and a brother.

ROGER MUCHNICK, 23

This undated photo provided by the U.S. Marines shows Lance Cpl. Roger W. Muchnick Jr. of Fairfield, Conn. Muchnick, 23, was killed with six other Marines in an explosion during a Nevada training exercise on Monday, March 18, 2013.

Muchnick, who'd been in the Marines for about three years, had served in Afghanistan and was considering returning to college after his enlistment was up. He played high school lacrosse and football in Westport, Conn., and later played lacrosse at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he studied business. In a biography on the university's website, Muchnick said the one thing he would like to do before he died was "live," and his most embarrassing moment was getting caught lip-synching in a school talent show. "He was at the top of his game when this happened," said his grandfather, Jerome Muchnick. "You can't imagine losing a very handsome, 23-year-old grandson who was vital and loving."

JOSH MARTINO, 19

Pfc. Martino, who hailed from Dubois, Pa., and was preparing for a deployment to Afghanistan, aspired to be a Marine since boyhood. "Since he was probably 8 years old he wanted to be a Marine," said his mother, Karen Perry. "That's all he wanted to do." Martino was a talkative former high school athlete and accomplished hunter who hoped to marry his fiancee later this year, Perry said. His mother said she first heard a radio news report about the Monday accident, then three Marines arrived at her workplace to say her son was among the seven dead.

Live-fire exercise gone wrong chalked up to human error...

Marines: Human error to blame for deadly Nevada accident
May 29, 2013 — A military investigation has determined human error was to blame for a March mortar explosion that killed seven U.S. Marines during a live-fire training exercise in Nevada.
1st Lt. Oliver David, a spokesman at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, said in a press release Wednesday that a Marine operating a 60 mm mortar tube and ammunition "did not follow correct procedures, resulting in the detonation of a high explosive round at the mortar position." The investigation initiated by Brig. Gen. James Lukeman, the commanding general of the Camp Lejeune-based 2nd Marine Division, also determined that the mortar team involved in the accident had not conducted "appropriate preparatory training" leading up to the nighttime live-fire exercise.

The Marines did not release a copy of the investigative report and declined to provide any further details about the nature of the deadly mistake. Officials also would not say whether changes to training procedures were enacted as a result of the review. Marine officials announced earlier this month that two officers and a non-commissioned officer were removed from command following the March 18 accident at Hawthorne Army Depot. Seven Marines and a sailor were also wounded.

Lukeman relieved battalion commander Lt. Col. Andrew McNulty on May 8. Company commander Capt. Kelby Breivogel and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Douglas Derring, the battalion's infantry weapons officer, were also relieved of their duties. According to the release, Lukeman relieved the officers because "he lost trust and confidence in their ability to ensure proper preparation for, and conduct of, live-fire training events."

David said no criminal charges are anticipated as a result of the investigation. The investigation also determined that the 60 mm mortar functioned properly and that the weapon system is safe when used as designed by properly trained Marines. The mortars are back in use after training on them was suspended following the accident, officials said. The Marines killed ranged in age from 19 to 26. All were based at Camp Lejeune.
