#2 Why would a lawyer want $100,000 to be charged as attorney fees on an invoice resulting in a 1099-MISC and then have to pay Income Tax and Self-Employment taxes on the amount. Then turn around and turn $40,000 over to an expert witness? Make no sense. It's better to invoice $60,000 for attorney fees and $40,000 for reimbursement of expenses and then pay Income Tax and Self-Employment taxes on $40,000 less.
