Do they think the public is so stupid they won’t find out?

Of course not. That’s why they’re trying to do it in secret. They know the uproar that’s coming when people realize what they’re trying to do.

"Apparently making $174,000 a year, which is more than three times the average American’s salary, just isn’t enough for these socialist elitists," the email said.

The NRCC has not responded when asked if it was aware of the McCarthy-Hoyer agreement, notes Politico.

You just watch. They won’t give it up. They’ll wait until the public’s attention is riveted elsewhere and will try to sneak it in as a rider to a bill the public thinks is important. Something they think the president will be loath to veto.

These fucking do-nothing's deserve a pay cut, fer' Chrissakes.

Congress has been a pox on our Union for far too long. If their raises were pegged to approval ratings, those sonofabitches wouldn't have had a raise in years!

More @ House Democrats, Republicans Secretly Negotiating Congressional Pay Raise

You are just making crap up again. The way the law is written, all they have to do is do nothing and they get an automatic pay raise. They have to vote the pay raise down. Doing nothing, they get the pay raise. No meetings, not voting, nothing. The Cost of Living Index is figured at 2.6% the same for SSI. In order for Congress NOT to receive that 2.6%, they have to vote to waive it. They have waived it since 2009. 2.6% is equal to about $4600 increase. That's almost as much as some SSID recipients receive annually.

This has nothing to do with pay increase for Congress. Get back on point.
Uhhh, yes it does-

House Democrats on Monday evening abruptly halted an effort to increase congressional pay for the first time since 2009, saying the proposal would be reviewed carefully after several freshman Democrats made overt efforts to block it.

Members of Congress generally make $174,000 per year, with senior leaders earning more, and no cost-of-living adjustments have been made in the past nine years. However, vulnerable swing-state Democrats, concerned how the pay hike would look if it didn't also have Republican support, had signed onto amendments rejecting the measure.

“It needs more discussion,” House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., told Fox News.

If they do nothing (and that whole thing is actually doing nothing but looking like they are doing something) the pay increase automatically happens. Both sides needs to speak out for or against it. If they don't it automatically happens. Again, they need to vote to stop it. Not voting means it automatically happens. What you are seeing is Politics at it's worst. And Pawsnews reporting that the Republicans are doing nothing which in affect is a vote for the pay increase.

This is what I have found-
Dems to yank bill to raise congressional pay after backlash
House Democratic leaders are postponing consideration of a bill that would include a pay raise for members of Congress, after facing a major backlash from the party's most vulnerable members.

Top Democrats agreed in a closed-door meeting Monday night to pull a key section of this week’s massive funding bill to avoid escalating a clash within their caucus over whether to hike salaries for lawmakers and staff for the first time in a decade, multiple lawmakers confirmed.

The House still plans to begin voting on the massive spending package to fund several agencies but will hold off on the section of the bill that sets funding levels for both branches of Congress — creating an unexpected scramble for congressional appropriators.

And
House Democrats propose $4,500 pay raise for Congress
Congressional salaries have been frozen at about $174,000 since 2009, when Democrats controlled Congress and decided to suspend automatic cost-of-living increases while heading into the 2010 election year.

And you found a lie. Congress just has to do nothing to get that pay raise. Your information is based on a lie. You can keep saying it over and over but it's still not true. The pay raise is automatically attached to the pay raise to the SSI and if the SSI gets a 2.6% so does Congressional pay.
