Umm how can you force someone who gets no income for volunteering but required to get Obamacare ..

They aren't required to get ObamaCare (any different than anyone else), the issue that is being raised is whether Volunteer Departments will have to offer, health insurance.

My understanding is that the government considered volunteer firefighters as "employees" because of workers comp and OSHA, which makes sense. If they are injured with trying to save someone or their house then they should be taken care of.

However, for a volunteer to be considered an employee for ObamaCare purposes they have to work an average of 30-hours over a qualifying period which is set by the employer. That qualifying period can be as low as 3-months but no more than 12-months.

So...

#1 The vast majority of volunteers aren't going to be meeting the average-hour threshold to be offered ObamaCare.

#2 Most volunteer firefighters hold down regular jobs and to the fireman thing after work and on weekends. That means they will have health insurance through their primary employer.

Here is a pretty decent article on it -->> http://www.washingtonfirechiefs.com...e-Fighters-Under-the-New-Health-Care-Law.aspx
