If Congress doesn't act soon, tens of millions of Americans will only receive about three-quarters of their Social Security benefits when they retire.
Social Security's trust funds will be tapped out by 2035, according to an annual report released Monday by trustees of the government's two largest entitlement programs, the other being Medicare. That's one year later than last year's report projected.

So where is Bernie,AOC,et.al. coming up with the money to keep SS solvent?

And every day thousands of people come across our southern border...people that know little about healthy living and probably haven't seen a doctor in years....
And our congress does nothing....they could stop it in 10 mins if they wanted....

They will have to raise FICA taxes which even people too poor to pay income taxes have to pay, and the Democrats only want to raise taxes on the rich.

Stop paying welfare and Medicaid out to fuckers who sit on their ass all day, take those funds and put them to SS and medicare. When the liberal lazy shitfucks start to starve then they will get to work, thus contributing to SS and Medicare and wont need welfare or Medicaid any more. Problem solved...

Congressional spending had better start putting the first dollars toward the interests of American citizens. If necessary, cut everything else.

The Baby Boomers were forced to pay into the system all their working lives. If they are shorted their promised benefits, I'll predict a shitstorm of never before seen proportions.

Here's a Bernie proposal for shoring up social security....raise the ceiling on social security taxation of wages.

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders wants to reform Social Security — here’s how
Nothing new here, just tax the rich to pay for the poor, turning SS into a welfare program. SS pensions were supposed to be something you earned by paying into the program during your working years, but since people are living so much longer than they used to, those extra years of retirement have to be paid for somehow, and to keep the integrity of the program intact, either the retirement age must be delayed or FICA taxes for everyone should be increased.

Dumb ole' George W. Bush, of all people, warned about this problem and actually proposed a reasonable plan to deal with it, but, as usual, the Democrats demagogued the plan, and it was defeated. Bush's plan would have reduced scheduled benefits by about 25% for people *under* 55 and would have allowed people under 55 to invest *part* of the payroll tax (the SS tax) in private investment accounts that were approved by the government. Anyone 55 or older would have received their scheduled SS benefit and would not have had the option to invest part of their payroll taxes in a private account.

This was actually a very sound, reasonable plan that would have extended SS's life for many decades, if not longer.
