Personally, I think every single anti-abortion and pro-gun Republican should become Democrat. They could eventually change the Democratic Party into the pro-life/pro-gun party but let all the other things remain. Over time this would obliterate the Republican Party to such a degree that it would have to be rebranded or replaced by a third party. I have been thinking about this for 20 years. Repubilcans could rebrand by fully embracing universal health care and double down on this issue. Welfare recipients would love it, government employees would love it, businesses would love it, and the average worker would love it. The only people that would hate it would be insurance companies. The Affordable Care Act delayed this inevitable outcome for 30 years or so. It's going to happen. Republicans should just jump on it. Democrats wouldn't gain anything or lose anything by taking on this issue. Republicans could gain a lot.
