How the Creator of 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' Got the Gospel Past CBS Execs

There's less reluctance by Hollywood to include religious themes in movies and TV shows than there was back then. So, that's progress.

I don't know if you folks noticed, but there a different versions of the Peanuts Christmas specials that air in different markets. This started when Clinton was elected. I'm not even sure you can see the original in Canada or California anymore? :dunno:

When this started happening, I bought the original for my kid to see when he was little, I wanted to make sure he could see the classic and grow up with the right one.

If you want to make sure you see it in your market at Christmas, best have it on video, b/c you just don't know which one they are going to show.

To me, what Linus puts out there is the best part of the program.

God bless you always!!!

I own the DVD and only watch that, but it doesn’t shock me Hollyweird modifies a great thing popular to so many.

But there is no effort by the media to remove references to religion from the public's view...right, lefties (wink)?

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

That's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.

Note that Linus drops his security blanket at ‘do not be afraid’

I was just made aware of that this week. 56 years of watching that program and I never noticed the blanket drop until this year.
I think it’s because I’ve been watching Charlie Brown Kwanzaa instead.
