I was looking for a different video that I need to complete an assignment when I ran across this video. There is a lot of good information in it but Dr. Phil's explanation of how some people end up becoming scammers (when "good people ...") strikes a chord.

If I find the original I was seeking I will go ahead and post it:

1. If a stranger asks you to send them money, for any reason, they're scamming you.

2. If someone gives you a check, they're scamming you.

3. If someone says you have to act NOW, they're scamming you.

4. If it's too good to be true, they're scamming you.

5. If someone you've never met in person says they love you, they're scamming you.

That covers most of it.

Don't ever give out your credit card number over the phone. My wife got a call the other day that we had overpaid out Dominion Power bill. She was smart enough to say just subtract it from next month but they insisted in crediting it to a credit card. There's the scam.
