You have to understand, many of the unions got a sweat deal given to them by Obama under Obamacare, a sweat deal the rest of the country has to live without because they did not line his pockets. Now the entire DNC is trying to do away with Obamacare and the unions are pissed.

The union is fiercely protective of the program and has warned members that Medicare for All plans like the one supported by Sanders would eliminate that benefit.
