Yep, Obama made it clear he would do nothing, and that if push came to shove, he would just back down again. Trump proved he was not only paying attention, but that he didn't need to draw red lines then hide behind Congress to wuss out. Trump is the President of the United States. If you notice what I said, I said Obama reversed things by about 5 minutes. That is certainly not me saying Obama had much impact.

The answer to why is simply. Hatred, anger, lack of trust last a lot longer than happiness. Once you've broken the trust, it will take time to rebuild, and in terms of the US it's going to take more than 8 years to rebuild the trust of an invasion and fuck up in the post war period. Had Obama been followed by someone willing to take similar policies, and had Obama not gone and followed the British and French in bombing Libya, and and a few other places, then maybe trust would be coming back. But Trump will wipe it away in an instant.
