I don't really understand the Dems' "need," for lack of a better word, for a national $15 min wage.

I don't doubt or disagree with NYC or other urban areas, esp progressive ones, logically wanting the raise. Or the need of workers. But in rural states, min wage jobs sometimes just supplement rural life of raising and growing one's own food. It will kill jobs, because the people who buy retail goods are the same ones working the jobs. Employers will consolidate gas stations, small grocery's and maybe even Wal-Marts. It just seems typical leftwing elitism to think places like Ala and Miss and WV can't figure out their own state economies.

The Democrats want to raise the minimum wage to the point where employers will choose to automate their businesses, reduce staff, or eliminate low-wage workers altogether. We're already seeing this in the fast food and hospitality industries.

The Democrats' goal is, of course, to drive low-wage workers to unemployment and then onto welfare, where they can be more easily controlled. If the government is paying for your food rather than your employer, wouldn't you be more "willing" to go along with things like mandatory vaccines, only "approved" content on your social media, not questioning what your kids are being taught in school, etc.?

So corporate farms can get billions but working stiffs shouldn't be able to make enough to survive on?

if you are a "working stiff" and the best you can do is a minimum wage job, you made some serious mistakes in your life.

Yeah, like not demanding the government stop the businesses from shipping the jobs overseas.

The only mechanism the government has to do that is tariffs and "buy American" laws.

Stop lying.

What mechanisms do they have?

I'll say it again with smaller words for you. The left doesn't want "working stiffs" to be able to feed themselves. They want the government doing it. Forcing employers to find other ways to run their businesses by making human labor too expensive is the whole point of raising the minimum wage to an untenable level. Clearly, you are the target audience for the Democrats' propaganda around this, since you're unable to figure it out on your own.

Billions for the markets and the slaves starve. You can say it however you want.

Yes, in short, that's precisely the Democrats' goal with this ridiculous attempt to price human labor out of the market.

So if you're against a $15 minimum wage...how much do YOU make.

Wanna bet they won't say?

Wanna bet it's a hell of a lot more than $15/ hour?

Some companies will be able to afford $15 an hour MW and still be profitable. Most cannot and will either invest in automation, reduce staff, or hire illegals to survive. Many will go bankrupt.

You didn't address the point so...................

I make around $65. I went to college, graduated magna cum laude, and put 20+ years of hard work into getting there.

When I was 15 I started working at $4.25 an hour, minimum at the time, and was up to $5.00 an hour after a year, and $6 an hour after two. And that was just a clerk job at a pharmacy.

Well at least in Miss, wage levels resulted in the maftring base for garments and most furniture was lost. But there's no way to offshore retail jobs. Employers and, and will, consolidate their outlets, which will not only reduce jobs but also make it harder for consumers who sometimes worked in closed outlets.

Let the companies leave. What that is going to lead to is guaranteed wages whether you work or not. It's inevitable if that is how you want it to be.

Flipping burgers was a job for teens to make a little gas money. The raise is for the wave of illegals about to come into our country.

That also. All the illegals making $7.00 and hour for 60 hours now getting a large raise and OT.

"AMERICAN" human labor.

They are completely happy with Chinese slaves making $5 per month

I don't really see the linkage. But yeah people like Ernst will vote corp welfare for herself, and not raise in min wage for her constituents.

Bullseye!
$15.00/hour has a different value depending on which region one resides.
The issue is to destroy non-governmental entities.

Adjusted for inflation what you made as a kid WAS equal to $15/hr and yet you expect adults to subsist on half that now.

Telling.

Imagine taking a $50/ / hr pay cut and trying to get by. I doubt you care because you'll never be faced with that

Hiding money is what is needed. Like the great depression. So as to live better with free money.

I watched an interview this morning in which an XL pipeline employee reported the minimum wage for them was reportedly just over $21. If that is, if they were to allow the Democrats to set their minimum wage they would lose approx. $17 an hour.

For Americans to achieve higher wages tyrannical Democrats believe they must control wages and mandate a higher minimum wage.

President Trump achieved the lowest unemployment rate in decades, the lowest Black / Latino /Asian / Womens / Young Adult unemployment rate in US history, more jobs, more opportunity to succeed, higher wages, raise, bonuses, and more without attempting to control everyone's lives or dictate salaries / minimum wages.

In less than 10 days Biden's 'royal edicts' have already eliminated almost 60,000 jobs, destroying the lives and livelihood of 60,000 Americans and families.

It will be interesting if Biden's failure in 3 years, if he lasts that long, will be as great as Trump's success was after 3 years.

Indeed, the Democrats' plan manifest. At least you're honest about it.

Actually it's $8.78, and again, I was only making it for about 8 months before I got a raise for being competent.

It's what we have been doing for years now. Raising the minimum wage really does little to address the problem but at least it will be a temporary reprieve. We will crash it all in the end.

What year? You already stated it was $4.75
