Arctic sea ice extent for December 2016 averaged 12.10 million square kilometers (4.67 million square miles), the second lowest December extent in the satellite record. This is 20,000 square kilometers (7,700 square miles) above December 2010, the lowest December extent, and 1.03 million square kilometers (397,700 square miles) below the December 1981 to 2010 long-term average.

The NH sea ice levels have been under reported for almost a year now. I was wondering how long it would be before NOAA got bitched slapped and their deception exposed..

Not only is the ice more than reported, its thickness is twice that of just last year according to the ships, that are stuck in it.. And Russian meteorologists are showing a very different picture than is NOAA.

So does this mean global warming causes thicker ice ?!

It's all very confusing.

Fascinating how the land bridge around Alaska causes the Alaskan end of the Arctic Ocean to freeze over like that, whereas the Gulf Stream in the North Atlantic stays warmer and not frozen.

Yep, it is only zero degrees there today instead of 50 below, some think zero is when Ice turns to Water.

lol......s0n.....you talk about "science facts" related to climate science as if they were facts of physics. Fucking duh.........nobody thinks that except the religion. The entire world accepts laws of physics as indisputable facts of science......not even close when it comes to climate science. Outside of the clubs, the jury is still out. Its called failing to make the case.

Very few people embrace the whole world is ending view of the members of the religion. As such, it is still a hobby for all practical purposes. The science of physics has changed the world. The science of climate science has changed nothing.

More accurate is: if the arctic ice were down to 1/10th of a km^2 you could still get an icebreaker stuck there. It`s because of people like you that we need to build driver-less cars. Next time you use a knife and fork to eat make sure to wear a hardhat and safetyglasses
