Can you imagine living in a country in which both major political parties were run by normal people who weren't insane?

I am old enough to remember those days, the Democrats were somewhat to the left of the Republicans, but they had many moderates like Sam Nunn and even some conservatives too from the South.

I think the Democrats were done in by the Vietnam War, the assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK, Jr., and Roe v. Wade. The combination of these events caused the Democrats to lurch sharply to the left and drive all the normal people into the Republican Party.

At one time, my parents were both Democrats, but the Democrat Party tossed them out like so much garbage.
