I understand that. I also understand this is 2017. You cant move forward when you are running from the past.Let me tell you, I think black pride is stupid, too. But the origin comes from a reaction to black shame, which was a real thing. Spend every day of your life being told that you are, and treated as, "less than" because of your skin color and tell me you wouldn't go radically in the opposite direction. It's like reprogramming.
Read some of the posts on here. It's not the past.
It's better, but black people (and other minorities ) still encounter treatment that ranges from mildly racist to downright hateful.
That's why I ask people if they really know any black people, well enough to talk to them about this stuff. We need to listen to and understand other people's experiences, before we start telling them how to feel.
Seriously, you seem to think there's some huge "black privilege" out there, which runs directly counter to the people who get stopped for driving while black, or who get the cop's gun pulled on them before a word is spoken, or who get followed suspiciously in stores, or who might get resumes tossed into the trash for an ethnic sounding name.
