They knew Bush the first would have beaten Clinton Perot was the wildcard. All 3 candidates in 1992 were all about the same percentage in the low 30's when Perot for some reason withdrew from the race. He later returned and receive somewhere in the teens guaranteeing Clinton's victory. There were rumors that Repubs were not happy about the Nixon impeachment. Frankly they voted to impeach also but they knew by 1992 Progs would never impeach one of their own. Never! Repubs are followers to Progs. That is not good because we keep moving far to the eft. I expect impeachment against a Prog president by Repubs if they control legislative power in the future.
