And if it is worth trying to do something about it and indeed if anything can be done about it.

the fact remains George Washington and "founding fathers" would have been branded traitors and terrorists had they lost to the British.

Even as far back as Washington and birth of our nation, there were haves and have nots. Many of those wealthy were such because they held others in human bondage as slave labor. They also pushed native Americans off the lands on the eastern seaboard of our nation and continued to decimate indigenous population with westward expansion and a belief in white European manifest destiny.

With the power structures this built up in our country based on a genesis of war and theft and exploitation, can we honestly be surprised that is what we see to this day?

According to the rich snobs on the left it is rigged to the right small business owners.

Huh? Most of American left and right are not rich or excessively comfortable. Median household income is $52,000.

Is that how you feel? Do you agree with Elizabeth Warren? I am inclined to.

Dude, if you can afford luxuries such as that computer and internet access then the system couldn't be all that much stacked against you.

So you believe a computer in today's economy is a luxury? P.S. Though I have my own laptop and my company laptop here at home, I am posting this from my iPhone.

I am asking a general question about our country and the power of money in politics to shape what our government's priorities are.

I think most people on the Left think the the system has been rigged on behalf of the affluent, and that the poor, working class and some minorities are not represented in Washington because they can't afford lobbyists or campaign donations.

Whereas most Republicans believe that it's still the 40's and business + the wealthy are being destroyed by the tax, regulatory and redistributionist policies of government.

Of course, when you look at the overwhelming and unprecedented concentration of wealth on top coupled with the political power of the wealthy (Koch + Soros), it's impossible to claim the wealthy are victims.

The problem with fixing the system is that too many people have been given inaccuracies information about who the system is rigged for. This confusion is by design, and it perpetuates the status quo.

What in the world do we expect when EVERYONE knows that our "leaders" are bought off by campaign contributors, that the decisions they make in office are geared to keep those contributors happy?

Those who oppose term limits and publicly-funded elections are complicit in this.

Yes it is. Hillary was robbed of delegates to ensure Obama was the winner. Then the media chose both McCain and Romney. Cant have the first black president be a complete failure.

What powerful interests do you believe were behind Obama's victories over Clinton, McCain, and Rmomey? And what would be their motive for choosing him over centrist imside the beltway establishment types?

It's wrong to present it as a left / right issue.
In the 17th Century U.S. governments were our benevolent servants.
In the 21st Century U.S. governments are our punitive masters.

The system is rigged to advantage the privileged to the detriment of the powerless.
The system is rigged to advantage the bureaucrats, to the detriment of the tax payers that feed them.
The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets or steal bread.
Anatole France (1844–1924), French author
