All of these problems we are having with Islamists are because of President Jefferson, and his War of Aggression against innocent Muslims in North Africa starting in 1801.
Sure, the Sultan pirates were raiding US ships, seizing the goods, enslaving the crews or holding them for ransom, but that's besides the point. They were just a few terrorist, and did not represent the whole of the Islamic world. The English and the Netherlands may have joined in the fight, but that didn't give Jefferson the right to declare war.
Sure, we may have won the war and it may have provided free trade and security once again in the Mediterranean that hadn't been seen for hundreds of years, but that's besides the point. We should had been more considerate of their cultural needs and not resorted to war. War is never the answer.
We need to ask Congress to pass a resolution to condemn President Jefferson's actions and apologize to the Islamic world. A posthumous impeachment is in order.
