Republican politician will put restrictions on traumatising gay ‘cure’ therapy with support from Mormon church

The governor of Utah will bring forward restrictions on traumatising gay ‘cure’ therapy with support from the Mormon Church.

The state’s Republican governor Gary Herbert will bring forward a new rule via the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL), after negotiations with leaders from the LGBT+ community and the state’s powerful Mormon church.

Well hats off to Mr Herbert for helping to drag Utah into this century. Its only a week since I was commending a chap in Texas for similar progressive thinking. It seems that there might be life in the GOP after Donny is caged. These fellas are it.

We call them, RINOS

And why do you oppose "change"?

If someone realizes it's a little bizarre to feel this attraction to the same sex, andcthey look for HELP, why do you oppose it?

If that person were attracted to children, or animals, but they sought help, would you oppose it?

Its a bullshit "therapy" and those who practice it should be locked up.

Wow, bringing both sides to the table and reaching an agreement. What sort of witchcraft is this?

No big deal either way. There are bigger problems in this country than this. This affects about 2% of the population. We have a growing debt that will take down this country and the world economy but let’s focus on 2% of the population of Utah. No wonder we are in the fiscal trouble we are in.

BTW: Why does the party matter? Just more divisive bigotry from Tommy.

I am spreading love. You crack on with the national debt.

Mormonism and Judiasm and all other cults derived from Yahweh are fucking cults that love and celebrate inbreeding. WTF is the LGBT "community?" The psychotic qu33rs simply get accounts on Pornhub in the Shemale section.

When we collapse into the greatest depression. I don’t think you will give a damn about what a governor in Utah thinks. Working to put gays into a Great Depression isn’t love, it is cruel.

Yeah, it's probably going to be crap. That starts out with the fact that it's only going to "protect" minors. Moreover, it's just some sort of "executive order" that can be overturned at the drop of a hat, since the fabulous legislature of the 18th century state chose to kill a bill banning conversion therapy.

Ask yourself, what kind of demented nitwit would negotiate a rule on anything, and on gays in particular, with the "latter day saints"? Doesn't that strike you as wholly ill-advised? My suspicion is, they are going to give "conversion therapy" a different name, perhaps change the procedure just a bit, and continue as before.

Anyway, the deplorable goons of LDS saw to it that a far stronger wording was dropped:

The church had initially objected to an earlier version of the proposed rule that designated conversion therapy as a “harmful practice” and declared attempts by therapists to engage in forms of “unprofessional conduct.” Specifically, the church opposed the rule due to the lack of language explicitly exempting therapists who are parents, relatives, or members of the clergy and are acting in a capacity as a religious or spiritual advisor, rather than in a professional capacity.

Damning. They carved out an exemption for themselves to continue terrorizing gay youth. Utah... way to go until the 21st century shows up on the horizon.

They will never evolve unless we give encouragement. Dont be so churlish.

Churlish? Moi?

Look, you award them a participation trophy for their first baby steps into the general direction of humane treatment of those they can't help finding defective and somewhat icky. That's enough by way of encouragement, and I didn't fault you for it. I, for one, will not stand by idly while the clergy, with the help of he governor, carve out an exception for themselves to continue brutally to drive a wedge between gay youth's selves and their nature, occasionally resulting in suicide. Because that's what this is, and the governor surrendered to them despite at least some general insight into the problematic nature of that "treatment".

Just in case you tried to be ironic, yeah, I missed it.

Yep! Utah is a tad wacky on the subject, but they don't get the prize yet. Look here at what Ohio just signed into law.

Ohio bill orders doctors to ‘reimplant ectopic pregnancy’ or face 'abortion murder' charges

I'm pro-life but even then I will admit that those sponsoring this are the ones in need of medical attention.
