ISIS declares creation of new Islamic state with own headman as supreme leader
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, an Al Qaeda break-away organization, declared Sunday the creation of a new 'caliphate' — an Islamic state led by one religious and political leader, or 'caliph' — that covers 600 miles in Iraq and Syria. The Sunni Muslim militant organization named its own leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the caliph.

A BRAND NEW CALIPHATE ----in the land of 1001
~~~~ ARABIAN NIGHTS~~~~~~ no less
besides the caliph----do we get a Sheherazade? how about a JINNI in a bottle?
With ISIS I see something like another Taliban-era Afghanistan coming on in that region.
Can it get worse than that? I doubt it.
Then again, with those Islamic fundamentalists savages... it can always get worse.
Early in the last century the European powers destroyed the Islamic Caliphate and divided the land between themselves by drawing up artificial borders.
The muslim people have had a longing for the restoration of the Caliphate for a hundred years.
Now the dream is being revived right in the heart of the Middle East. ... :cool:
good idea-----lets watch it happen-----red is a lovely color. There was one good aspect
of the Ottoman caliphate-----it facilitated the reestablishment of Israel Did you know that
both tel aviv and rishon le'tzion were established in the second half of the 19th century----
the ottomans managed to do at least something good. Lots of my relatives thru marriage
migrated to the land of Israel during the time of the ottomans. The ottomans moderated
the filth of shariah
Who´s sending messages of acceptance?
And I think that this extremist pool will have problems with its neighbors.
As a goofy convert, you're not expected to know the lurid history of the Islamist Reich that ended in 1924. It actually collapsed inward of its own dead weight long before 1924.
Hollie ----have some compassion----it was a GLORIOUS CALIPHATE----
and actually lasted a long long time-----its gross corruption was not an
issue------all caliphates are grossly corrupt-----they run on blood and
baksheesh -----very efficient
We need to understand that Moslems blame their every pratfall, ineptitude and self-inflicted calamity on Western interference and hostility to Islam. Western ascendency is an injurious point of humiliation to the moslem psyche and is probably equal to the 800 year-old grudge of Europe's defensive Crusades as inspiration for Islam's hatred of the West and of the hated kuffar (outside of the Koran and sunnah).
1924 was a watershed as it marked the inevitable clash of Islam's unreformed seventh century doctrine and the modern, civilized world led by the West. It was the catalyst of the more modern jihad revival which has been sputtering along. The Muslim Brotherhood was established in response to the end of the Caliphate, and Osama bin Laden, et al., have whined about the humiliation and suffering of moslems in the 80 years since, and have used this date to help justify the mass murder of infidels in their rambling jihad screeds.
Not a pretty picture if you consider the armenian genocide or the brutality of the the brutality of Mehmed II.
That's all ancient history by todays standards and has nothing to due with the current events happening now. .. :cool:
Islamic conquest has never been a pretty picture. One of the reasons this goofy mini-caliphate will self-destruct is that it is not following the islamist pattern of conquer and convert.
Islam tended to take territory first with conversions coming later. For a significant period of time after the initial conquests of Muhammud and the first Caliphs, most of the moslem dominions were in fact minority moslem. This fact proved beneficial to the growth of the early moslem empire, as the economic structure of Islamic governance, with the jizya, or poll-tax on non-believers, and later under the Ottoman Empire the devshirme, or forced conscription of Christian subjects into the Janissaries, was essentially parasitic.
Historically, when moslems were required to innovate scientific or cultural developments, they failed spectacularly. The moslem economic, social and scientific vitality was almost entirely dependent on the exploitation of non-moslems.
