Biden Proposing 5% Cap on Housing Rents

If a business is so out of touch that it can't survive without government intervention, then it needs to go under. The government isn't here to be your mommy and daddy.
Form follows function. Where 112 Million Americans are being rent gouged, the function is to stop that. Where 32 million businesses are being heavily damaged, the function is to stop that.

The US is a combination of capitalism & socialism. It's a good system where managed to protect large numbers of Americans, and not let one entity run wild, and ruin everything for everybody else.

Example: When I was a young man the Oregon state budget was $2 billion. Todays budget is a whopping $116 billion and SURPRISE government mooching parasites are the biggest employer in the state. Now you know where your money is going, into their mooching pockets.

This is just a vote buy scam. I bet they don't even do it. They will just keep talking about it and talking about it just long enough for the election. And when the election is over they will probably just say "the Republicans and trump stopped us from cutting your costs" and then pretend like nothing ever happened.

Renters will just get their money other ways with service fees, processing charges, or some other new fee created. Or they will simply only charge for the rental property and then slump every single possible other charge onto the tenant like water, garbage pickup, lawn care, insurance, snow removal and so on.
 
Get a real job. Move out of Dem tax and spend shitholes. You have lots of options.
78 year old disabled folks dont have jobs, We have Social Security & VA pensions, and they go up each year by a FEW bucks (much less than the rent increases)

I tried to bolster my income by selling art paintings. In 2015 -2020, (before the huge rent increases) I sold 28 paintings. From 2021 to now, I have sold NONE.

I also teach music. Guitar, mandolin, violin, piano. Same thing. Sales disappeared. I also taught guitar at Sam Ash Music. Same thing. No students. Now, Sam Ash went out of businesses (after 100 years) - no customers. No sales. Do you buy a Fender strat, when your rent just went up $1000/month ? ($12,000/year) 😐

Also, priorities. Housing and feeding themselves are priorities. Jordans, the latest NFL or NBA or MLB gear or the latest Iphone are not priorities. They don't need the most expensive new sportscar or SUV to get them to work--a used junker works well in a pinch.

If you were one of the people who shorted the stock, you got reamed for it. Just like the guys who shorted Gamestop and at the big losses on that one. I dont short, because i dont play dailies, because i am too small an investor. I buy a stock for long term, and give it an end date or price.

If Trump does not reciprocate and propose a rent control law himself (of 5% or lower), he could be handing Biden the election. After the astronomical rent increases of the last few years, to renters and business owners, this is the most serious issue in America. Both have taken a huge hit economically, by the enormously higher rents.

I think if Biden really wanted to level out the cost of rental housing, he would simply do an executive order making it mandatory that any undocumented alien, be given housing in the homes of those that vote for him.

They would take 1 undocumented alien per person in their home, and no, there will be no vetting of the aliens, you get whatever comes over the border.

This would free up a ton of homes and apartments and bring the cost of housing way down, with the added benefit of showing Biden voters what they have done to this country by electing the moron.

Social Security was never meant to be your sole source of income in retirement. VA pensions are kind of a joke unless you retired a lieutenant colonel. You needed to plan for this. I think we can agree it's not my responsibility to work overtime to pay your bills. At 78 you can't work a job really. You could find other retirees in the same situation, pool your SS and pensions and rent a place together. Or move in with your kids, I know a number of retirees who have done that. While I can sympathize with your situation, I don't want my retirement savings drained to pay for other people's lack of proper retirement planning. I passed on buying the boats and cars and instead put my money away. I passed on vacations and blowing money on credit cards to make sure my house was paid off in retirement. I should not now be penalized like I'm getting stuck with stupid people's student loan debt.
 
100% would tell you they're against rent control.
And many of those buildings are now without occupancy. Losing money because there are better places to live. I moved from Va to Florida because of the state tax. When i left i got a $30,000 pay raise not paying state tax. Made paying a mortgage a lot easier.
