James Madison: "tyranny will come to the US in the guise of fighing a foreign enemy"...like Russia

Liberals are tyrants...James Madison said it!

James Madison was in fact one of the original Liberals who built this country's framework. That was the whole point -- an experiment in Liberalism.

Fun fact 2 - one of the devices to counter foreign influences that came as standard equipment with that Constitution was the Electoral College, which design Madison was an integral part of. This was a 'check' on a popularly elected con artist who might have ties to, oh just to pick a random country -- Russia.

Fun fact 3 -- when the various states started using the perverse "winner take all" system of counting Electoral Votes, Madison objected, even calling for a Constitutional Amendment to prohibit it --- even though doing so would have reduced the power of his own state, simply because it was the right thing to do.

So yeah he was against tyrants but he certainly wasn't against other Liberals like himself.

This has been what the rest of us call "thought". Try it someday instead of these inane drive-bys full of nothing.

I don't think it's about 'Liberal/Conservative' or Republican/Democrat. It's about the Military Industrial Complex. It's clearly decided that the 'War on Terror' isn't enough. It needs more massive funding. And outdated Globalist bureaucracies like NATO are dying.

The MIC needed a bigger Boogeyman. Hence, the rabid Warmongering against Russia. Now they have their 'Threat' to Western Europe again. NATO will now see its funding increase dramatically. It can now claim it's no longer obsolete. It isn't hard to create Boogeymen. Sadly, human beings are very susceptible to giving into fear. The MIC understands that very well.

Thinking we can be friends with a country that has never liked us and has a massive nuclear arsenal pointed right at us is foolish. Trump and the Trumpbots have a blind spot for Russia, a fact Putin is guaranteed to exploit. If Trump does not wise up about his buddy he deserves to be impeached as quickly as possible.

We used to have good relations with Russia. They are so far away that we have no conflicts of interest.

The Cold War is over. Be happy about that. No WWIII.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." -Sinclair Lewis.

Except that that will to oppress fellow Americans seemed to have settled on Christians as a target, not a recruiting pool.

And Universalism is part of their mindset too.

You don't get it. The cold war is back on and your man is playing the role of Nevile Chamberlain to Putin's Hitler. Your man tells you that appeasement with Putin is good, that we can trust him, but the stage is being set for Russia to invade our sphere of influence and diminish our power. Hopefully the congress will impeach him before he helps Putin damage us too badly.
