Kamala Harris Receives Drug Usually Reserved for Those ‘at High Risk for Progression to Severe COVID-19’.

"Usually" does not mean always, high profile politicians always take more precautions than others.

For fucks sakes, Trump was pumping himself with HCQ according to his doc, this experimentation didn't prevent him ending up in the hospital either btw.

You are nitpicking the word "usually" which was added by the journalist and not included in the EUA. Paxlovid is only authorized for those at high risk for progression to severe COVID.

Here are the actual words from the EUA (emphasis added)...

"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued an EUA for the emergency use of the unapproved PAXLOVID which includes nirmatrelvir, a SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro: also referred to as 3CLpro or nsp5 protease) inhibitor, and ritonavir, an HIV-1 protease inhibitor and CYP3A inhibitor, for the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kg) with positive results of direct severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death."

Ok, so she is not high risk. It's still a trial proven drug with very high efficacy.

But the efficacy rating is related to avoidance of hospitalization or severe illness. The efficacy was determined solely by treatment of unvaccinated individuals, BTW. Haris had four vaccinations.

If she is not high risk, then why would she be taking it? BMI over 25 or hypertension might possibly apply to Ms. Harris, but the other risk factors like age >60 do not seem to apply.

It's not like she is an indispensable government leader, LOL. Rules for thee?

Efficacy details are here in Section 14...

You know, she knows, she made a bad choice. Now history will remember her as the worst type of person to be Vice President and the worst of all time

Only diplomacy she excels is, "Under The Desk Knob Polishing" diplomacy
Classy Righties.

How does that happen?

Oh yea, thats right, antivirals inhibit viral replication...something that may interest a VP trying to minimize infection and get out of isolation asap.

I think you missed the point.

The only purpose for taking the pill is to avoid hospitalization or severe illness in high-risk individuals (per the EUA which I linked). And it was only tested on unvaccinated individuals.

Kamala is 4X vaccinated, and you claimed that she is not high risk.

So, why is she taking it?

There is nothing in the EUA which says if you take it you can get out of isolation more quickly; it specifically states that it does not prevent transmission and isolation is still required.
