I didn't know they had sturgeon up there. Awesom. That fish is probably pretty old.

The fish are all over the state. Big thing to seek them during a short season on Rainy River at the Canadian border. That fish is decades old.

What is unusual is this is basically South Mpls. In the heart of a highly urban area. Not a large creek either.
DNR tags a lot of them so they can track and study them.

A few years ago I hooked into something huge on the river. Pulled the boat around but never got to see it. Broke the line.

Yeah, I know, all fisherman are liars.

No one will ever believe me.

My guess is the kids were just looking for the adventure, not the fish.

At first they thought it was Jerod Nadler but upon further examination, it was much too tall. Eventually it turned out to be much smarter also. Viva Trump.

Update.
DNR will relocate the Sturgeon to the Mississippi river.
Still trying to figure out where it came from. Couldn't come from the river because of the falls. Had to be either Lake Harriet connected by a small channel or Lake Nokomis about 2 miles away on the creek.
