Putin has been courting North Korea to satisfy Russia's need for more weapons in Ukraine. Along with Iran that has provided Russia with deadly drones, North Korea has become a major supplier of ballistic missiles to Russia. Russia is winning friends outside the Western world controlled by Washington, thus forming a new Eastern Bloc. During the Cold War, the world was a peaceful place because most of these troublemakers were securely locked behind the Iron Curtain.
Russia's Vladimir Putin and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un have arrived at Pyongyang's central square - the Kim ll Sung square, named after North Korea's founding leader, says Russian state agency RIA.
The agency added that the "solemn welcome ceremony in honor of [Putin's] visit has begun".
Russia has been falling over itself to show that it has friends around the world that sing from the same hymn sheet. From Asia, Latin America, Africa - anyone disenchanted with the ways of a US-led world is welcome.
Out of all his allies, Putin’s meeting today with Kim Jong Un is expected to rattle the West the most, as the two isolated leaders show how they can close ranks and defy sanctions.
