Shani Bachar, the late 31-year-old from Moshav Netiv haShayara, was shot and killed yesterday , allegedly by an acquaintance, on the road between Kibbutz Lohami HaGaot and Moshav Regva near Nahariya. Tonight (Wednesday) she will be laid to rest.

The suspect obsessively courted Bachar and resisted her pleas to break up with her. The same acquaintance followed Bachar, who allegedly informed him that she was not interested in a relationship with him, blocked her path of travel, collided with her and made her stop her car. He got out of his car, pulled out a gun and in front of drivers driving on the road, shot her several times at short range, then shot himself.

Shani's family, who are still shocked that she is no longer alive, said: "Shani suffered harassment at the hands of the killer for years. She sought to keep him away from her - and was even accompanied by her association in an attempt to deal with the situation and break away from an obsessive man who did not let go of her. She was very afraid of the killer, But he followed her, hurt her and she knew that he might harm her. For her living, Shani was a manager of a fashion company, smart, witty, helped the community and asked every woman to get married and start a Jewish home. She was a ray of light to everyone around her, full of giving and seeing the other."
