On Wednesday members of Congress denounced the censorship and retaliation by Twitter and Facebook of the New York Post’s bombshell report about connections between Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and his father’s vice-presidential tenure.
Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Josh Hawley of Missouri, both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent letters condemning the censorship and calling for answers from the big tech companies.
In Cruz’s letter, he requested that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey answer why Twitter chose to censor that particular article, claiming it was “hypocritical” and an attempt to influence the presidential election. Cruz demanded that Dorsey submit Twitter’s answers to the Subcommittee on the Constitution.
“Twitter well knows its incredible ability to influence public dialogue by promoting some stories while suppressing others and it has plainly decided that the American should not be seeing or discussing this particular story which could significantly influence voters’ views of candidate Biden,” Cruz said.

Comment:
Both Facebook and Twitter are blatantly interfering in this election and violating the First Amendment to our Constitution. It's long time past and they should be shut down. They have been silencing truth since Alex Jones was banned over a lie.
There's no doubt that Joey Xi Biden has been compromised. The Ukraine, China nor Russia give money without SOMETHING in return... Confidence has been lost. Censorship at its worst.
One has to wonder how long China Joe Biden and his family have been corrupted.

How are they violating the First Amendment?
If the gummint shut them down then that would be a violation of the 1A.

Put down the talking points from the hate site and concentrate on the post in front of you.

No one mentioned the 1st.

Could you imagine though if a town in Texas had their public library pull the NY Times because they printed something critical of Trump?

Y'all commies would be preaching 24/7 about how it destroys freedom of the press,

Dorsey can hate freedom of the press. He can censor the press on Twatface, it's a private publisher after all. He can't claim to be platform though - he is a publisher and responsible for the editorial content of his publication.

Social media are no longer a platform for the distribution of information. They have become content publishers, editors, or at worst, censors. And yet, they cannot be held liable for slander or outright lying.

I think you'll find that slander and outright lying is the reason that they are blocking the sites that Cruz is complaining about.

Republicans are. They have every right to decide what goes on their platforms. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are 100% assholes. I am embarrassed that I voted for Cruz in 2016. He is another disappointment. They would be right at home in Nazi Germany. The New York Post has a website and can push their own stories.

What does "The free exchange of information and ideas" mean to you?

Did you know that was the original intent of public internet?

Interesting that Twitter and Facebook didnt censor the news about Trumps tax returns.....THAT WERE OBTAINED ILLEGALLY.

Bullshit.

They have no problem rushing to publish any story about Trump that has a hint of truth in it.

They've been shown to be liars and openly want to promote one candidate over another.

No problem doing that right now.

But it won't last forever.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

And then the censored the House GOP site. Then pulled back and called it a mistake !!!!

You bet it was a mistake.

They are going to pay for that one.
