Lamar Alexander considered a run for president. I was in Iowa in 1994 when he came and did a speech in Des Moines. I went for my friend, took the time to drive up there and check him out so I could give that opinion to him he'd asked for.

what turned you off him.

The type of people he gathered did not impress me and then neither did his speech. I was a single mother two children who actually used the talents God gave to go off of welfare into contracting at 24 not long after almost dying. The Libertarian deal was no assistance whatsoever no matter the situation. I had left home very young. Married to a guy that got into drugs and one day after one of his weeks of being gone he got nasty with our youngest. Decided at that point he may get away with abusing me but never would he abuse the children. Next day he said if I did not get rid of a dog I had taken in that had been abused and dumped he was leaving. Told him not to let the door hit him in the ass on his way out. I had just turned eighteen and had no clue how the children and I would survive. The guys at that meeting and Alexander did not impress me since I had been what they were slamming.
