Did High School Textbook Change The Constitution To Take Away Individual Right To Bear Arms? | Independent Journal Review
The high school textbook, which is used at Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, among other schools, contains a summary of each Constitutional Amendment, several of which seem to alter the initial intent in which the respective Amendment was written.

The textbook summarizes the Second Amendment as:

“The people have a right to keep and bear arms in a state militia.”

The actual Second Amendment reads:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The bastards just cant stop their attack on gun rights, lol.

And as with the other moronic thread, this moronic thread provides no evidence the textbook’s authors were ‘liberal’ or that there was any intent to ‘rewrite’ anything.

It would help if you would read the article, moron, and no conservative would 'summarize' the 2A that way, and anyone that does so is a libtard by definition.

True, but I am particularly aggravated by attacks on the 2A. That is the greatest store of potential energy here and it is all bad energy.

yes agreed the book needs to be tossed out

Yes, it should read- "The right of EVERYONE to have guns, including Crazy People, Criminals and even the BLIND!!!!"

Because, clearly the Blind totally need guns.

Speaking of morons... it isn't a textbook (read the title: "United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination" -- it's a test prep book of summarized notes.

Moron the story: Denton Texas is "liberal"? Okay....

Moron III: what you've quoted above as the "actual Second Amendment" is the version passed by Congress (minus an insignificant typo where you neglected to capitalize "Arms"). But the actual Amendment as ratified is different. It reads:

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The difference between the two versions is probably lost on your intellect. As is the lack of difference between the Constitution and this "fake book".

And yes, this fake story has already been picked apart, here.
You're welcome.
