Life imitates Star Trek. Again.

Watch television less, live life more. More people living life creates more opportunity that a television show made reference to us.

That's what Muslims say. Study the Qur'an and nothing else.

For all its' faults, television imparts knowledge far better than reading a book. When you read you get the information in only one way. When you watch tv you get it two ways (audio and visual.) More efficient by far watching a movie about a book than reading the book itself. Both are good, but you can get the gist of a book in about 2 hours where reading the book could take weeks.
Most people have never been to Paris but we all know what it looks like or what Hawaii looks like, even though we've never been there. Why? Because we've seen these places on TV. You can tell me about Hawaii or show me a movie in Hawaii. I'd rather see the movie.

...or you could go there...
The point was TV or video is better than reading a book.

Not sure about the movie versus book issue. What if math books were movies?
They are. You've never experienced one?
Remember schoolhouse rocks? Schools need to be more creative teaching math.

I'd love a well done math video tutor back in the day when I was in school. Give every student a video to watch not a frustrating math book.

I loved The Cosmos. So why was reading my science book so boring?

It depends on what the book was about. I'm also guessing those who claim the movie is better haven't read the book, considering what the literacy rate in America is like.

The book or your imagination is always better but I'd rather watch 100 movies than read 100 books.

But if you do read the book it ruins the movie. Like 50 shades of gray.

It's almost too much for those of us who are well read to stand here and silently watch you spreading your shit all over this thread

Reading is fundamental, not for fundamentalists

The book is almost always better than the movie. Everyone knows this. Except you, I guess.

Not always.

Some times the actors or attresses are able to make a character sympathetic more so than the writer was.

Other times, especially with larger casts, SEEING the character and the setting as it switches constantly, eliminates a barrier to engaging with the characters.

And of course, some action or sex scenes are much more enjoyable when presented in video than with writing.

A great writer can use words to create a hot image of beautiful woman doing bad things in your mind.

Or the producer can hire a beautiful woman to do bad things and film it.

And there are a lot more trampy women out there than great writers. Unfortunately.:frown:

not being one who hangs around kids or illiterates, I'll seek your professional opinion -- how many?
Not being one who responds to smart ass liberals, I'll decline to reply to you.
