An idea for a series...

So in Star Trek we have transporters and transporter buffers
The buffer being a big memory device used for holding the pattern

Now we've seen episodes where someone has
gotten stuck in the buffer
been altered in the buffer
been saved from the buffer...

What would it be like if, instead of a crew of 1000 or more, the ship had a crew of, say, 10.
Every morning and several times per day each crewmember would step into a transporter where their pattern would be stored

We could:
Create as many of each crew member as needed
Revive an dead crew member from his last recorded pattern
Use the transporter and buffer to treat illnesses and injuries

The originals of the crew need not even be on the ship. They can stay home doing UFP stuff while their transporter twins cruise the universe. When they return home their patterns are integrated back into the original who now has all the memories and accumulated skills of the twin.

Imagine being able to produce 100 Worfs, a dozen Datas, or 10 Dr. McCoys on demand?
Imagine the story lines here.
A crewmember sees his best friend killed then restored.
50 Worfs reintegrated but with 50 different memories of a battle...

I think this could work.

Deep Space 9 already explored this with the cloning of the Wayoun character.

One of the theories of the transporter is that the person dematerializing is not the same person rematerializing. The same memory and ways, but a different person and not realized.
