Limiting Police to Tasers or stun guns

Interesting story of 2 cops who tried to do it right but it still wen t wrong, ending in a shootout. Defense argued their client was justified in shooting the officers because he feared for his life when they were Stunning him during the attempted arrest.
If such an argument is allowed doesn't that short circuit the effort to make more use of them instead of guns.

Like the Hunter who shot a suspect who killed a Fla Highway patrol officer. Suspect lazed the suspect the suspect shot the officer the hunter who was hunting in the area shot the suspect. Hunter was a retired Trooper. I am not a fan of Tasers. I like the shotgun approach.
