I stand corrected. Although Jesus practiced and preached giving to the poor and charity to the extreme, it was not to be done by government means ( taxes ). Today we live in a secular society, and government must do its part to attempt to ensure liberty and justice for all.

I think you're too far down the rabbit hole. I'm sure Jesus wanted a more kind state because his Homeland was under occupation by the Roman army.
