A legislative gamble of historic proportions! The American judicial and political sphere has been turned on iits ear for generations with Trump's victory!

Victory is sweet, and in this case genius!

Absolutely fucking brilliant!

So you replaced a dead conservative with a live conservative.

The dems will end cloture on all legislation when they take the Senate again.

Sure Flakey, but snowflakes were hoping they could replace a brilliant SCOTUS with yet another dingbat!.

It was geniust because it worked!

As I said, it was a brilliant move which will effect the US for decades. :)

Garland is no dingbat, but your suggestion is dingy, meathead.

No, Gorsuch is no deal breaker. He will uphold Roe v Wade, Citizens, United, probably Hobby Lobby, will not interfere with LGBT issues, and most likely will instruct to write clearer legislation.

I get that. but on a host of issues Gorsuch is more moderate than Garland. Trump wants to make America great again. Gorsuch will not be an impediment, while Garland is a bit of a snowflake, though admittedly not of the caliber of the ugly Mexican and the even uglier Kagan.

Sorry

The die was cast for using the nuclear option for Supreme Court nominees in 2013 when Reid used it the only question was which party would be in position to do it when the time came it happened to be the Republicans.

Garland is a very good judge, and you are certainly a dingbat to suggest anything else.

Gorsuch will be more centrist than you are going to like.

So, no, it's not genius at all, but, yes, it is a decent move by McConnell, who could have made a better one with a much more conservative judge.

The dems are pissed they did not use it in 2010 for single payer, but the conservative dems (all gone now) were in the health insurance industry pockets and would not agree.

Why is it a bad thing for the cloture to be retired over the next few years if it no longer serves the interests of the American people?

Not out of their hat

Garland was an anti Second Amendment dingbat. Had he gotten on SCOTUS the 5 anti Second Amendment dingbats would have said there's no individual right to bear arms and then there's be no militia well regulated enough to bear arms either. It would have ended with the Tree of Liberty getting a good watering

Garland was well respected by both sides (until he became a nominee)...as was Gorsuch. He's not too bad a choice. The real battles will be any choices further up the line. Hopefully, by then....things will change in Congress.

The next two picks could change the Court for a generation.

The dems will move heaven and earth to take the Senate in 2018, which would be very difficult to do in a normal environment.

Trump could so screw up the Dems could end up with 55 to 57 seats.

Where? The only seat they have a chance of realistically flipping is Nevada.

The Republicans are far more poised to make gains, but Trump could definitely ruin those prospects and allow red states Dems to cruise to victory.

Pull one out of the hat? Gorsuch's confirmation was never in doubt. Well, except perhaps only by those who questioned whether Republicans could walk and chew gum at the same time.

President Trump will probably have two more; one to replace Bader-Ginsberg and another for Kennedy. Will shape SCOTUS for decades.

Don't be daft. I was talking about the entire gambit.
